General With the purpose of protecting the
safety of the people, properties and domestic animals, the Resolution 92/98 was
dictated on February 16 1998, in which was established the minimum safety
conditions for the commercialization in Argentina of low tension electric
equipment, through a mandatory certification system from accredited
organizations. Resolution 92/98 provides the certification system for mandatory
product safety requirements in three phases:
Phase 1: Certificate of Compliance All products manufactured or imported
into Argentina require a Certificate of Compliance, based on tests done by
recognized independent engineers.
Phase 2: Type Approval All products within the application of the
Resolution should obtain a Type Approval issued by an organization accredited by
the OAA, in accordance with the procedures established by the organization, and
tested in an accredited laboratory.
Phase 3: Product Certification All products manufactured and imported
into Argentina must have a National Certification Mark. Phase 3 is expected to
go into effect on
- July 18th 2000 for electrical materials and products (industrial and
domestic products)
- September 18th 2000 for electronic products
Also, for products under 50V and above 63ª, the 2nd phase will start on
August 18th for a period of 1 month, and then the 3rd phase will start.
Lealtad Commercial has officially recognized TÜV Rheinland Argentina S.A. as
the first foreign certification body in the area of product safety. Therefore,
one way of obtaining the necessary safety mark for products intended for the
Argentinean market is to pass the required tests performed by TÜV Rheinland
laboratories. TÜV Rheinland Argentina S.A. is a recognized Certification Body in
Argentina. Due to that fact TÜV Rheinland clients can choose certification
directly via TÜV Rheinland Argentina or via IRAM, who is another recognized
Certification Body and partner of us.

Safety Testing A CB-Test Report with CB-Certificate or IEC based English
language TÜV Rheinland Test Reports together with national Argentinean
deviations will be accepted.
2. Additional Documentation
- Test report as mentioned above
- Application Letter
- Authorization Letter
- A letter of declaration from the importer
- Design drawings, specifications, circuit
- Product photographs
- Rating label in Spanish
- Instruction manual in English
